John Ross Music and Production has been the Northwest’s premier provider of live music and sound for weddings and parties since 2004. Based on owner John Ross’ extensive experience as a musician and event planner, the company provides all-inclusive packages that offer quality, simplicity and affordability to its clients.
John grew up in Salem, OR and moved to Portland to study Music at Multnomah University. During College, he worked at Evangel Baptist Church and Crossroads Community Church while traveling extensively with his band, Forgivenmuch. He went on to study church history at George Fox University, earning an MA in 2007, and worked at Pearl Church as an assistant pastor from 2004 to 2010. John has been performing his own original music in a wide variety of local venues since 2002 and currently keeps 2 standing gigs: every 1st Thursdays at Biddy McGraw’s Irish Pub and each 3rd Friday at Barile’ Wine and Beer. John and his wife, Marissa, currently live in Fairview, OR with their brilliant dog, Shasta.
Brian Cheney and Ben Cook have been performing and DJing as a team for John Ross Music and Production since 2010. Brian grew up in Portola, California and moved to Portland in 1998 for college, earning a Bachelor’s in Music Ministry.
Brian has been singing at weddings for over a decade and has performed in a wide variety of venues from churches to coffee shops across the US. One of Brian’s favorite experiences was living in Lima, Peru for a year while working at a local church and becoming fluent in Spanish.
Ben grew up in Portland, OR and attended Portland State University earning a Bachelors of Arts in Arts and Letters. For most of his life he has sought out good music and ways to make it sound better. Ben’s easy going personality and sense of humor make him a great DJ and MC to work with. Ben and his wife, Stefanie, spent a year in China teaching English at Hebei University of Technology. They enjoy walks, camping, good food, and good conversation.

Michael Blake is the newest member of the John Ross Music and Production team, joining our talented group of musicians and DJs in 2011. He brings over a decade of experience, having DJd and performed at hundreds of weddings over the past few years. He’s a fantastic guitarist and a natural vocalist with numerous CDs to his name as a recording artist. Michael’s also a talented and creative DJ with years of experience managing playlists and serving as the MC at wedding receptions all over the Northwest.

Eric has made a living as musician/DJ for over a decade, touring extensively with his band, Amadan, while maintaining his life-long love of classical trumpet, performing with local groups such as Federale and The Madison Concrete. Currently employed as a Deputy Medical Examiner for Clackamas County, Eric has been putting his extensive experience to work performing at and DJing weddings with John Ross Music and Production since 2010. Eric resides in SE Portland and is an integral (if not indispensible) member of the Timbers Army.
Matthew McCulley moved to Portland from South Carolina in 2008. Over the last few years he’s built a fantastic reputation as a local filmmaker, producer and director. His company, Laurel Tree Productions, has been partnering with John Ross Music and Production since 2010 to offer couples high quality wedding videos at an affordable price. Their customized 5-10 minute highlight videos capture the best of your wedding day including personal messages from family and friends.
